SOLICITOR'S SUICIDE

- EXTREME DEPRESSION (Per Press Association.) CKRISTCHURCIT, last night. .James Alison Beattie, 71. a solicitor residing at 170 Dean's avenue, was found dead in his home thisj morning with a gunshot alongside the body. At the inquest held this afternoon, evidence was given by If. Beattie, son of deceased, and Dr. Whet tor, that Beattie had recently had a attack of influenza which had been accompanied by acute illness and convalescence by acute depression which greatly retarded his return to health. The coroner, Mr. K. D. Mosley, S.M., found that death was due to a gunshot wound in the head, selfinflicted while Beattie was Buffering from extreme mental depression following an attack of influenza.
