MUSIC IN THE STREETS
BAN IN NEW PLYMOUTH Tim New Plymouth Borough Council has decided to place a ban on gramophone and radio music played in the streets. The following by-law was adopted : “No person shall, in any premises adjoining or near any street, footpath or public place, by playing any gramophone or musical instrument, or operating wireless or other device, cause nuisance or annoyance to persons in or on such street, footpath, or public place.” In moving the motion,. Mr. G. M. Spence said that while in Auckland he had conferred with the city solicitor, arid found that the same trouble had been experienced there, but that a by-law had gone a long way toward abating the nuisance.
