ORANGE LODGE

ANNUAL SESSION OPENS (Per Proas Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The twenty-second annual session of the Grand Orange Lodge ot New Zealand opened in Wellington on Saturday. Delegates from all parts of the Dominion were present. The R.W.G.M., Brn. IT. Slubbers, presided. A civic welcome was tendered by Or. K. 11. Meadowcrolt in ihe absence of the Mayor, through indisposition. ' “The principles of loyalty and religion which animate the institution should make it a iactor in elevating life in the Dominion.” said Mr. Meadowcroft, and expressed the hope that the sessions would he useful and profitable T he reports of the grand secretary and grand treasurer were of a salisfactoy nature. The grand master delivered his address. He said Ihe visit of Viscount Craigavon was ihe outstanding event of the year. an. address of welcome being presented on behalf of the Grand Lodge The response ot the lodges to the orphanage fund was gratifying, many lodges having exceeded their (junta. T*he grand master reviewed the work of the year, lie had, he said, visited 70 lodges and travelled 7000 miles during his lerm of office.
