At l.'icearton mi Thursday (lay Crest finished over a length in front of Quarterdeck at the end of seven furlongs in 1..".0 2-5. Gay Crest was going well in the closing stages, and gained additional admirers. Red Heckle cantered round to the half-mile post on the grass and ran home in 4!) 2-oscc, going very freely. He greatly pleased his admirers. He was ridden by K. Coveney, who will handle him in the Great Easter Handicap. The local trainer, G. Murray-Ayns-lev, had three surprises in store for track watchers. Netley ran one of the swiftest miles of the morning, 1.43 3-5, and, finally, Kakara established such smart time, L2 3-5, for her five furlongs sprint, that she is entitled, to strong recommendation for Monday's Russlcy Plate, despite the fact that she will be making her initial appearance under silk.
.Arikiwai-ami Toawai broke away together at the mile post on the plough, Taragona joining them after going two furlongs. ' The first live furlongs occupied 1.4. Toawai was then eased up, and Taragona just led Arikiwai home. Arikiwai ran the mile in 1.42 2-."), the last half taking 52 1-5. Arikiwai was going well throughout, and it was a good performance.
