WHY NOT?

H.R.H. AND THE FIZZ PAINTING STIR LONDON, April 7. An open bottle of champagne standing before the Prince of Wales on a diniug-table in a picture of the Prince idly knocking the ash from his cigarette while watching a .skating carnival, is causing considerable comment. It has been painted by Howard Robinson for the Royal Academy. Mr. Robinson says: "Why the Prince shouldn't be allowed champagne like anyone else, 1 don't know. But owing to criticisms I. asked the Prince's equerries to inspect the picture. They laughed at the complaints, so. the picture is practically officially approved." Mr. Robinson recalls that, when he included the Prince of Wales congratulating a boxer in a picture of the National Sporting Club, the Prince said to him: "I. don't know much about art, but don't you think my collar is too high. It makes my neck look a little short. However, it isn't your fault, but the laundry people's, who washed my collars all wrong."
