DECORATING ROOMS
BEAUTIFUL EFFECTS PLY WOOD AND PLASTIC PAINT Three definitely modern forms of wall decoration are described below. The first instance is a livingroom of the type that appeals to the taste of t'o-day. The walls are covered with pine ply-wood finished a soft greybrown. It is devoid of panelling or moulding, relief being given by inset bookshelves and window. The plywood runs right up to the deep cornice, which i.> of egg-shell gloss, in an old parchment shade, as is the. ceiling.
Lime green plastic paint is worked into an effective design below the picture rail in a diningroom. The rail itself is in a deep shade. ' The walls at)6VC the picture-rail and the ceiling are a little lighter in tone. A beautiful effect is gained with a soft broken cloud design in the painted bedroom walls. Palest grey and blue are the shades, and the ceiling and woodwork are of pale grey.
\Vall treatment i.s certainly much more interesting than it used to be. Doubtless the tendency to have bare walls, or, at most, to hang only a single picture in a room, has? induced home-lovers ami decorators to give more at tent ion to the walls.
The woman .who is now pondering over her color schemes should be able lo adopt a variety of wall treatments in which, not only paper, paintj and distemper play their part, but novel effects with metal and wood as well. The cloud effects are xory popular at present.
