"STUD" OF RACING CARS

BOUGHT BY WOMEN HON. D. PAGET'S ENTERPRISE A British woman has come to the assistance of motor racing in Britain. Negotiations have been completed between Captain H. E. S. Birkin and the Hon. Dorothy Paget, Lord Queenborough's daughter, to ensure that Britain shall remain in the front rank during the coming motor racing season. For many years Captain Birkin has entered his" Bentlcys for international races. He has Won many of them, and in the others he has usually registered the fastest lap or made a record for the course.

Last year, in partnership with Captain Barnato, he was Hie winner of the Le Mans 24-hours endurance race, ami also put up the most remarkable British performance in the Ulster Tourist Trophy Kaee near Belfast. Keeping the Flag Plying.

Captain Birkin has for some time had a private "stable" of cars in Hertfordshire, with a large workshop managed by a "trainer," in the same way as a racing stable might be run. Miss Dorothy Paget has now bought the three cars which competed so successfully last year, and a new "mystery" car which is being 'made, and has placed them again in the hands of Captain Birkin to race during the present year.

Miss Paget first became enthusiastic over motor racing when she went down to the Brooklands track for the 500miles race at the end of last year. The Birkin team of Bentleys has been entered for most of the big Continental races this year. The three cars that were successful last year have been reconstructed, and an additional ear is being built for creating records.

Special drivers have been selected by Captain Birkin for the attempts winch are to be made during the coming season, the first of which will be the Italian 1000-milcs race, for which a British car will be entered for the first time.

Miss Paget is reputed to be one of the richest unmarried women in England. Bhe has a fine voice and often sings in public. For many years Captain Birkin has .shouldered the burden of preparing cars for racing.

The sporting action of Miss Paget on behalf of the British motor indtistrv will now ensure that his team, which will include some of the world's best-known drivers, will be able to make a good showing in every part of the world this year.
