BtfRTQN CUP TOURNEY YESTERDAY'S RESULTS Bowlers from Hawko's Bay, Bay of Plenty, East Coast, Waikolui, and. Poverty Bay assembled in Gisborne yesterday for the Burton Cup tournament, whic'h is regarded as the chief bowling fixture of the .season, so far as players in the districts mentioned are concerned. The tournament commenced yesterday was resumed to-day, and will be completed on ■Monday. Play took place on the Kahutia, Gisborhe, and Poverty'Hay greens, which were in splendid order, while the weather conditions were all that could he desired. Keeii interest attached to the tournament, and consequently the •grpcns were well attended, and the light refreshments provided by lady members of t'he cluhs were greatly appreciated. Mr. W. .1. MaeOibbon, president of the Poverty Bay centre, declared the tournament open at the Gisborne green, and similar ceremonies were performed by Messrs. B. <i. Dudfield and F>. G. Robertson at the Kahutia and Poverty Bay greens respectively.
