INDUSTRIES DEPARTMENT NEW CANADIAN COMMISSIONER (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Best wishes for a successful and happy stay in Canada, where he will shortly take up the post of New Zealand Trade (onnnissionor, were extended to the secretary of the Department of .Industries and Commerce, Mr. ■I. W. Collins, when he was farewelled by members of his staff. Opportunity was also taken to welcome Mr. G. W. Clinkard, who returned to New Zealand to take up his new appointment as permanent head of the combined departments of publicity, tourist resorts, and industries and commerce, after 12 months in Samoa as deputy-Administra-tor and Secretary to the Administration there.
Mr. Collins, responding to Solicitous remarks by the Hon. .1. B. Donald, Minister of the department, and other speakers, added that the Minister had informed him his sojourn in Canada would not lie of very long duration, and that after a term of three years he would have the opportunity of renewing his acquaintance with the Dominion and studying new trade conditions that might have arisen during his absence.
"I am delighted to return from Samoa and to have the opportunity of renewing associations with such an excellent staff," said Mr. Clinkard. "I am happy to get back and take up work with this department, somewhere about where I left off when I went to Samoa. I don't want to go through another year like the last one." Mr. Clinkard said he was delighted to know that New Zealand was going to have two such excellent representatives in Canada and Australia as Mr. Collins and Mr L. J. Schmitt. He hoped to make the three departments he would be taking over a "real live show."
