GISBORNE SAVAGES
ANNUAL MEETING HELD STRONG FINANCIAL POSITION With 17 years of successful activities behind, it, the Gisborne Savage Club is in a flourishing position, the linance and membership being stronger now 'than at any time since the Foundation of the 'we'll-known social organisation. Tile annual 'meeting of the club was held last, night, when there was a large attendance and a display of enthusiasm that augured well lor the continued success of the society. Savage Mainland Foster 1 , rangitira, presided over the gathering, .and'later transferred bis gavel to Savage A. Zachariah, who was 'elected rangitira for the ensuing year. The statement oi actcunls submitted for the consideration of the gathering showed a total credit balance of £526, exclusive of the relief fund balance, which stands at .-f'94. The annual report was as under:— "The thanks of the committee are duo to the numerous donors of money, clothing, and stores, enabling it. to carry out itlns very necessary work In this connection.'the best thanks of the club are again due to Mrs. Beer for the tactful and sympathetic manner in which she has carried out her arduous duties as lion, welfare officer of the relief hind. The splendid assistance Mis. Beer gives in this department of the club's activities has been suitably acknowledged. Nine' koreros were held during the season, including ladies' night Thanks are due for the valuable assistance given In the club's programmes by visiting members of kindred clubs from other ceuiies and bv visitors generally. Savages arc again reminded of the importance of wearing the club's badge at all koreros. Apart from being an emblem ot membership, it is of assistance to officers of Ihe (dub when members wear their badges. These are procurable from the secretary al. a very nominal cost the executive desires to place on record their appreciation oil (be valuable services rendered by j erforn c-rs ami others at tin various koreros especially the orchestra, under Savage M. L. Foster. whose performances have been much appreciated, due in a great measure to the assiduous and careful practice of the items for each Icorero. Suitable mementoes were presented, to the members who attended all practices and koreros during the past season." ; Members also beard a report on the welfare side of the club's activities, arid a 'tribute was paid to the work of the 'Hon. welfare'officer, Mrs. A. 1;, ( Beer. j whose disbuisals from the i• ' ' ' _ were endorsed bv the meeting, the rangi'tira sneaking in ! igblv complimentary 'terms of Mrs. Beer's tact and sympathy.
