KIRK-WINDEYER CUP N.Z. WINS FOURSOMES (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHIARCH, last night. New Zealand won both matches ill the foursomes section of the Windeyer Cup contest against New South Wales. Macfarlaue and Horton beat Hattersley and Keane, six up; Black and Ross beat Lee Brown and Dobson, four up. The first match actually ended five up and four to play, and the second four up and three to play. The best index of the splendid form shown by Horton and Macfarlaue in their match is to bo found in the score cards of the rival pairs, which were as follows :

Horton and Macfarlaue. morning, out —32, in 39, total 71; afternoon, out 37. in 33, total 70.

Hattersley and Keane, morning, out—--38, in 36, total 74; afternoon, out 38, in 35, total 73.

The game produced the most brilliant golf ever seen in foursomes at Shirley. The New Zealanders set off al a pace no one could match. They went out in 32, five under the scratch score of the course, and turned four up. On tho homeward journey, eXw South 'Wales, by excellent play, won back two holes and tho morning round two clown. They .began the afternoon round badly, losing the first two holes. Two holes later the New Zealanders increased the lead to five up. Then New South Wales won two holes back, but the New Zealanders turned four up. Then Mac farlane and Hortoti showed a sustained burst of brilliance, returning over the last nine holes in four strokes less than the scratch score. New South Wales did a sterling 35, but still lost two more holes.

The other match produced sound golf try the New Zealand pair, but as with the spectacular brilliance shown by Macfarlane and Horton, they were on top early and never once, after the first nine hole's, allowed the New South Wales men completely to wipe out the deficit. The scores were:—Black and Ross 73 77 l^> ; Lee Brown and Dobson 76 76—152. At the 24th hole. New South Wales had reduced the lead to one, hut suddenly tho fortunes changed, as they had previously, and the New Zealanders won three holes in a row and turned for the last lap, four up. Both came home in 36 one under tho scratch score, and New Zeal'ind hold the lead to Four no. The match vcallv ended at the 33rd hole, four and three. The draw for tomorrow is not yet announced. -
