MOTOR CYCLE SPORTS

-Mlbm. k LOCAL CLUBS COMBINE EASTER SATURDAY FIXTURE At a special meeting of the Ngatapa Sports Club it was resolved that some fixture should be held on Easter Saturday, and in view of this period being too short to allow the organisation of an athletic carnival,' delegates were appointed to approach the executive of the Gisborne Motor Cycle Club, with a view to seeking its co-operation on a mutual basis. Although only one week was allowed for full organisation, credit is due to the committee of the motor cycle club for the able manner in which the complete arrangements for the motor cycle sports at Patutahi Domain on Easter Saturday, were finalised. Present indications point towards the fixture being an outstanding success, and spectators should soe some thrilling racing. A half-mile track at the domain has been prepared, and over 20 entries have been received for the following! events: Sixlap, 350 c.c. handicap; 10 lap, open handicap, 10 lap, 600 c.c. and under scratch race; 10 lap. open championhsip, bending race; 350 c.c. acceleration test; open acceleration tost; and four lap 174 c.c. handicap. Post entries will bo received for all events up to within half an hour of the starting time, and the heats and finals will lie run off at 15min. intervals. It was pointed out that a large number of officials would be required to control the meeting, and. in addition to the following, others would ’be ap pointed Infer: Starter, Mr. .T. Campbell ; handienpper, Mr. N." McCarthy; judges, Messrs. P. Tolorton, A. S. Parker, and M. J. Kync; official in charge of all track stewards, including lap scorers and timekeepers, Mr. .T. 11. Monteith ; grandstand stewards, Messrs. J. Hamilton and A. Falconer; megaphone steward, Mr. P. Fulton; lion, treasurer, Mr. Alex White; lion, secretary. Mr. M. R. Fry. Special transport arrangements have been made with the Railway Department and motor bus companies, vliilo for the dance to be held in the Patnfahi Hall that evening all arrangements have been completed.
