. QUESTIONS IN COMMONS GOVERNMENT'S ATTITUDE (British Official Wireless.) Roe. 10 a.m. RUGBY, April 8. The Secretary for liulin was questioned in Parliament regarding the effects of the campaign conducted by Mr. Gandhi in India. Mr. Wedgwood Bonn replied: "As the House is aware, Mr. Gandhi's march lias caused a certain amount of excitement in Bombay presidency, particularly in the districts actually traversed, and a small proportion of the village headmen have resigned, temporarily at any rate.' Elsewhere, little general interest appears to have been aroused. The main project of the Gandhi campaign, to defy the Government by breaking the salt laws, has only just been initiated, and it is too early to form any opinion as to the effects." Asked whether any steps had been taken 'by the Government of India to prevent mass civil disobedience, Mr. Menu said the policy of His -Majesty's Government was stated by the Viceroy in his speech on January 25, and would be pursued as circumstances might demand by the Government of India.
