POST OFFICE DESTROYED
COUNTRY STORE EIRE IVi'r Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. Eire destroyed the Post Office and Fitzgerald's general store at Ureriui late last night. The desperate efforts of a bucket brigade saved Howell’s boarding house next door, although the wall was scorched. The mail matter and the more valuable fittings, and most of the postmaster’s ftirniturc were rescued. The blaze originated in the store, which was rapidly reduced to ashes. The fire then leaped across the right of way, and* soon the post office was burning fiercely. . The store l was insured for £250, and Hit* stock for £llOO. The furniture of the postmaster, Mr. G. Lovei;idge, was insured for £250, Ibut the greater part was saved.
