BRIDGING THE STREAMS

GISBORNE-MOTU ROAD

COMPLETION IN 12 MONTHS

Recently the Waikohn County Council decided against a. proposal to contribute to the cost of bridging the streams on the Gisborne-Motu -road, the main outlet from Poverty Bay to the north. More cheerful news was received this morning, however, and the expectation is that the streams will be bridged during the coming financial year. The local agent of the Auckland Automobile Association, Mr. G. Crawshaw, remarked this morning that the president of the association, Mr. A. Grayson, on his last visit to Gisborne promised to make representations to endeavor to have the streams on the GisborneOpotiki road bridged as soon as possible. The association had now received advice from the Main Highways Board that it was prepared to proceed with the work immediately, and was only waiting to conclude its negotiations with the Waikohu County Council, so that the bridges might lb© erected and ready for traffic before the end of the next financial year in March, 1931.
