GISBORNE AMATEURS
SEASON’S RECORDS PASSED
The weekly meeting of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club was held last evening, Mr. W. Jenkins beiug in the chair. There were also present. Messrs. A. H. Thorpe, A. G. Swan, E. C. Sutcliffe, W. Campbell, ft. Wildish, W. Hutchison, A. 11. Hart, F. Fulton, and E. O. Algie, hon. secretary. Local records for the season were passed as follows: —11. R. Fiskcn, /min. 41 8-usee., li mile flat handicap, on March 7, 1930; W. Findlay, equalling Poverty Bay record for polo vault of 9ft. din. on March 7; W. Leach (Waipawa) 440yds. hurdles, time 0.1 l-osec., on February 1, 1930. The programme for Thursday, March 13, was arranged as follows: —100yds. ladies’ handicap; 180yds. men’s handicap; 1320yds. handicap, run off for Johnson Cup; 2 mile cycle handicap, Flying Star Cup; hammer throw handicap; ladies’ relay; 440yds. boys’ flat handicap, Stoneham medal; threequart er-milc boys’ cycle handicap, Stoneham medal.
The programme for the Waikohu Returned Soldiers Association’s sports on Easter Monday was approved, and permission was granted for Hie holding of the sports. It was decided to call in the men’s relay challenge stars and to request competitors holding these trophies to return them immediately to Mr. A. It. Hart. A donation of two medals was received from Mr. A. Stoneham to ho competed for next Thursday. The secretary was instructed to send a letter of thanks to the donor.
