CRICKET
THIRD TEST MATCH START NOT YET POSSIBLE (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Cricket enthusiasts were greatly dis appointed when heavy rain caused thf postponement of the first day’s play in the final test match between New Zealand and the M.C.C. eleven. The rain, which set in heavily last night and continued without cessation to-day, covered the ground with pools of water. Although the wicket was covered, a certain amount of rain is bound to trickle through the protection, and the wicket, it a start is possible to-morrow, is sure to be damp on the surface. Conditions to-night, however, do not encourage hopes of any play at all to-morrow, the city being enveloped in a heavy fog, with a light drizzling rain. SHEFFIELD SHIELD VICTORIA V. SOUTH AUSTRALIA
