OBITUARY

MRS, SARAH HEASLEY

Mrs. Sarah Heasley, widow of the late Mr. James Heasley, of Willowby, who died at Wanganui recently, was a native of Ayrshire, Scotland. Accompanied by her husband and four children, slie arrived at Lyttelton in 1876 by the ship City of Dunedin. Soon after their arrival, the family settled at Willowby, Mrs. Heasley residing there until 1923, when she went to live with tier son, Mr. James Heasley, of Hawarden, and later to Wanganui, where she resided with her daughter, Mrs. James Baker, until her death. The deceased lady, who was well known throughout Canterbury, leaves a family of six—Mrs. James Baker (Wanganui), Mrs. Wilson (Drury), Mrs. Carpenter (Oxford), Mrs. Bauerle (Eiffelton), Mr. James Heasley (l)alry, Hawarden) and Mr. J. J. Hensley (Gisborne). There are 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Tho funeral took place at Horsley Downs Cemetery.

The death occurred in Palmerston North of Mr. George Kendall, who Intel been closely connected with the Manawatu district over a long period. Deceased, who had reached his 82nd year, was born at Iteetli, Yorkshire, England, and came to Now Zealand in the ship Edward Fox in 1875.
