Amateur Surf unci hwfinmmg Club at the Hawke's Bay provincial championships, to be held m i-vapier on Monday and Tuesday next, wifi be one of the strongest tliat toas left this district, and is considered to be on a. standard, if not better, than the Hawke's Bay team. Last year Gisborne iron the 50yds. men's championship with 1. Richardson, who also annexed the IWOyds. title, while D. W. McKeague won the 2SUyds. men's championship. The absence of Richardson this season | "in the sprint section will mean a big loss to the club, though Gisborne will have f worthy representatives in J. Crawford, - R. Colebourne, and U. W. McKeague, all of whom may be relied upon to give sound performances in the 50yds. and 100yds. races. The final selections were made at I last evening's carnival, held under the I auspices'of the Gisborne club, and the 1 selector, Mr. C. E. The team chosen to represent the Uisk borne club against the Heret'aunga ' representatives in the annual water -: psa match for the Ferguson Cup on the evening of Wednesday, February 19- is given "below: S. Corson, T. Wauchop. K. Tool, M. Owen, J. Mil- § ler, D. W. McKeague, and Ri. Murphy. I McKeague has been appointed captain of tho loam, and Dr. H. Goulding Rice manager. On the second night of the championships the Gisborne team will « play for the Henry Williams challenge H cup, which is open for competition to I water polo teams of any affiliated club |; in Hawke's Bay.
