RAILWAY CENTENARY
Thev are already preparing in Liverpool for the railway centenary celebrations in the middle months of this year, which will take the form of a big exhibition. There will bo. two sides of the exhibition—one mechanical and the oilier historical, and to those people who are not engineers the historical side will probably have the bigger appeal. If should include, says the Daily Mail—if the document still exists—the first railway excursion announcement which was issued by the Whitby and Pickering (Yorkshire) KailWay Co., in August, 1839. .This coin. pany ran- rather unwiljingly, it should lie said—the first- trip on record.
