A PARADOX
COAL COMPANY'S PROFITS NEWCASTLE, dan. 29. To make a profit when its mine was closed, but to show a loss when the. mine was working, has been the experience of tbe Newcastle Coal Mining Co., Ltd., as revealed at the half-yearly meeting this aftepuoon. It was explained that intcrinittency of work before the trouble on the coalfields caused the company to lose money. Now, however, it can show a profit by leasing its coal wagons to unassociated collieries.
