PELTZER’S N.Z. TOUR APPEARANCE AT CHRISTCHURCH (Par Pross Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last Sight. Dr. Otto Peltzer ran two races at. an evening sports meeting at Lancaster Park to-night. The track was in perfect order, but a still: north-east breeze which met the runners down the battk stretch made record-breaking difficult, if not impossible. Fifteen hundred people were present and gave Peltzer a Haltering reception. A 1000 yards invitation handicap had been arranged to give Peltzer an opportunity to attempt to break the world’s record. 2.11 1-5, made by C. Ellis at Stamford Bridge last year. Peltzer conceded handicaps up to yards to local runners in the race. These handicap men set a- fast pace. In the first quarter Peltzer made no impression on them and not until the last 200 yards did the field come back to him. He failed fo catch G. L. Nieoll (handicap 25yds), who won by 9yds. in 2.1 (i. Peltzer’s time was 2JB 1-5. Peltzer won the 140yds invitation handicap in 52 2-ssec., beating A. Bullivaut (handicap 10,yds) on Hie tape by half n yard. I). W. Bishop (handicap Bvds) was third, a yard further back.
