POVERTY BAY EXECUTIVE The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last evening, the chairman, Air, H. E. Alaude, presiding. There were also present: Messrs. A. C. Woodtield, V. C. R. .Alitfoid, J. AT. Kay, A. Bignall, A. Baker, G. J. McGregor, F. Bennett, AY. Wilson, Al. Guthrie (selector), and iS. Edwards (acting honorary secretary). The secretary of the Primary Schools Cricket Association made application for three wickets for school matches, and the application Nvas granted, Monday in each week being tho day allotted for the games. The groundsman was instructed to prepare two wickets for the animal match between Christ’s College old boys and Wanganui Collegiate School old boys. The draw was made as follows for the first series of games in the final round of the senior competition:— A section: Old Bovs v. Turanganui, No. 4 ground; Gisborne Club v. City, No. 2. B section: Celtic v. Civil Service, No. 1; High School v. Poverty Bay Club, No. 3. The junior draw for Saturday resulted as follows: Celtic v. High School B, at the Domain; Turanganui v. School A, at the school. The selector submitted the following team to represent Poverty Bay in the match with Waiapu at Waipiro Bay on February 16 and 17: —W. J. Scholium, captain, G. C. Clifton, vicecaptain, H. F. Forster, manager, J. Scholium, C. Fraser, W. Turvev, J. C. Dow, S. Edwards, D. Wells* N. G. Lockett, and A. Owen. The team was approved and arrangements for transportation were left in the hands of the secretary. WAIAPU REPRESENTATIVES TO MEET POVERTY BAY (Herald Correspondent.) The Waiapu Cricket Association’s selectors have submitted their choice of players to meet the Poverty Bay XI in the return match at Waipiro Bay. The choice of the selectors has been ratified as under: W. Oates (capt.), Gilmore, Aloodv, Trevethick, Kissling, G. Oates, J. Gates, F. Jackson, Fox, Nelson, P. Hati, and F. Wickens (twelfth man). Enthusiasts at Waipiro are sparing no effort to ensure a really good wicket for the match, and it is hoped that the Coast players will extend the visiting team to the full, if they cannot actually wipe out the defeat suifered by Waiapu iu the Hawke Cup preliminary, played in Gisborne before Christmas.
