SPARTAN WOMEN

GREAT RACING TEST LAND, WATER, AIR LONDON, Jan. 27. between 30 and 40 of the most famous British sportswomen will shortly engage m a novel land, air, and water race arranged by the Women’s Automobile Sports Club, says the Weekly Dispatch. A dozen women motorists, including the Hon. Airs. Victor Bruce, to-day took part in the international trial from Sundsvaal (Sweden) to Monte Carlo. Each is accompanied by a woman motor boat racer, among whom is Miss Betty Carstairs, the best known woman motor boat racer in the world, and an airwoman. They will motor over a difficult course of 40 to 50 miles to a lake, where the women will leap into speed boats. After completing the course, they will re-enter motor cars, and will be conveyed to an aerodrome whence airwomen, including Lady Bailey and Aliss Spooner, who competed in the round-,Europe race, will carry out. a 100-mile flight. Finally, the motor ears, with passengers, will race to the finishing point. The winners will be decided 'by time cards.
