Further heavy rains caused a dislocation of the railway services and the flooding of many rivers in the coastal areas. Much damage has been done to property, and danger caused U> life. People have evacuated their homes in the lower sections. Some portions of the town and the wharves at limisfuil, on the Johnstone River, have 'been submerged. The railway traffic bridge over the Herbert River at Cardwell had 13ft. of water above the rails. Torrential downpours have been experienced between Townsvillc and Cairns. The 24-hour registration at Babinda was 895 points, Moss-man (324 points, and Port Douglas till points. Up'to 4in. also fell in some parts of York Peninsula districts.
