A. ■ Ransom, Minister of Public Works briefly referred to the subject of unemployment. lie said that as I: 1 travelled round the Dominion and saw large tracts of country unproductive lie was convinced that here was the solu tion of the problem if (lie people desired work. There were large tracts o! country not properly developed wide 1 could be brought into profit. They hue' to make their land produce more, and this could only lie done by intensive cultivation. lie was pleased to say that tho Maoris in the North Auckland dis trict realised this and were carrying it out to advantage.
