BETTER PRICES AT CLOSE (Received February 7, .1 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 6. The wool sales closed to-night. The catalogue totalled 127,164 bales, including the I'uiila Arenas and English clips. About 92,C00 bales of Australian and New Zealand wool wore sold, ol which the home trade took 50,000 bales, the ( onlineiit 40.CC0 bales, and the United States 1000 bales; 65,000 bales wore held over, including 46.000 bales which had not been offered. All prices had improved compared with the opening rates. Fine and medium greasy merinos closed 7£ per cent, higher, inferior and short 2£ to 5 per cent, higher. Scoured wools were 7J per cent, higher, except faulties, whiili were 2J, per cent, higher. Crossbred generally were par to 5 per cent. higher, scoured and slipes generally 5 per cent, higher, lambs and greasy merinos (good) a shade higher, and inferior sorts unchanged. Greasy crossbreds wen; 2£ per cent, higher. At to-night's final auction 8643 bales were offered, including 1304 bales of New Zealand. The approximate sales wero 7445 hales, and Wednesday's actual sales \\ere : Australian 7304 bales and New Zealand 615 bales. New Zealand crosshreds. greasy, slipes, and scoureds sold at full previous values. Bradford tops business today was restricted by the higher quotations. Quotations : Sixty-fours, 29d: sixties, 27d ; fifty-sixes, 22d ; fifties, ]BJd : forty-sixes. 16,-i; forties, 15£d. Messrs. Dalgety and Co. advise that the following is a range of prices realised at the first sales of the present London series: "Halfbred, 56/58. good to super 13d, low to medium lid to 1?4d.; halfbred. GO/56, good to super I2jd, low to medium lOd to 12d; fine crossbred, 48/50, good to super lid to 123 d, low to medium 9d to 10^1: fine crossbred. 46/48, good to super 10;?d to I2d, low to medium. B|d to IOJd ; crossbred, 44/46, good lo super 10-Jd to low lo medium Bi,d to 10 jd; crossbred. 40/44. good to super IOJd to lid. low to medium S,',d to lOd : coarse crossbred, 36/40, good to super 10d to IOJd, low to medium 8d to Old.'"
