"If the Federal Government will give the delegation its official blessing the Associated Chambers? of Manufacturers of Australia are prepared to send, a party to New Zealand to study commercial conditions there and endeavor to remove misunderstandings which exist between the two countries," stated Mr. James MacDougall, president of the Victorian, chamber, "it is most unfortunate that two eountiies so close geographically should ba so far asunder politically and commercially," be continued. ""The trouble can be traced back to the early days, when the idea of separation was so deeply embedded that it would take a lot oi shifting. What is wanted is an economic Anzac. "The delegation should contain political representatives, who would gain first-hand knowledge of each country's requirements. A tour could be made of New Zealand and • a New Zealand party could tour Australia, the whole desire being to -find out where markets can be obtained and misapprehension removed."
