The assassin stubbornly refused to talk, and was placed under heavy guard. The accomplices of the assassin, one of whom is a woman, succeeded in escaping. Policemen on 1 icycles caught the youth, who wore Catholic insignia to escape detection. Indescribable indications of regret are visible everywhere among the citizens, who earlier in the day were in the best of humor at the peaceful and orderly manner in which President Rubio assumed office/ Representatives of all political factions express disgust at the cold-blooded attempt to murder the President. •Seven persons were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to assassinate. It is authoritatively reported that the assassin later admitted to the War Secretary, Senor Amare, that he is Miguel Flores, aged 22. a student and a follower of Vasconello, the defeated anti-reelectionist Presidential candidate. He states that the followers of Vasconello hatched a plot, to kill President Rubio and his entire Cabinet, and exPresident Fortes Gil produce Governmental chaos, and seize control. The police are watching closely for further trouble, the exact seriousness of which they are unable to ascertain as yet. A close censorship was established after the shooting.
