CHAMPION" PAIRS Eight clubs were represented in the matches played to-day on the Poverty Bay Club's 'green, tlie pairs championship of the Gisborne. bowling centre's district banging on the tournament. Up to tho mid-day adjournment, only one round of the "three had been played, but it was anticipated that by 5.30 p.m. the whole tourney would be completed, unless an unusual and unexpected state of affairs obtained. At the close of the third round, results of this morning's plav were,: First round: Te. Karaka. Auld and Murray 07 v. Tokomaru Bay (Roberts and Neill) 18; Strangers (Paltridge and Wootton) 22 v. Tolaga, (Hurlstone. tmd Smith) "17; Gisborne (Clark aud Sinclair) 21 v. Kahntia (Power and Martin) 14; Poverty Bay (Holland and Somervell) 27 v. Wairoa (Wilson and Smith) 7. The Gisborne rink qualified for tho final round by defeating the Strangers Club's pair. The second round was not concluded at 3.35 p.m., and the other survivors were not known at that stage.
