MATCH AT KAITARATAHI KAITI WORKS BEATEN The first cricket match this season for the "Cock o' the North" cup between the Taruheru freezing works (holders) find the Kaiti works took place a I Kaitaratahj dining the week-end, the country team retaining the trophy by an innings and 46 runs. In their first innings Kaiti made 54. and collapsed completely in their second strike, the whole team being dismissed for 24. F Beer (27) and Lynex (10) were the best of the visiting batsmen. S. fxlwards did exceptionally well with the ball, capturing eight Kaiti wickets for 19 runs in the first innings, and again in the second he took eight for 13. Some of the Taruheru players gave good performances with the willow, Oooney (48), Edwards (25), Clarke (24), and Wall (10), not out, being the best. For the visitors, Beer took six wickets for 67 runs, and Holshiei' two for 10. Gregory, a member of the Kaiti team, was batting well till he received a cut above the right eye from a rising ball sent down by Robinson. Gregory re■■tired at this'stage.
