ROCHE AND HARRIS WIN PINAL The semi-final of the handicap doubles competition of tho Poverty Bay Rowing Club resulted in a. win for Webb and Martin, who defeated McCarthy and Butler by a .length after an interesting race. In the final, which was rowed last evening against the tide, Roche and Harris outclassed Webb and Martin over the last, stages, winning by a canvas. Making the most- of their handicap, Webb and Martin quickly established a. substantial lead. They maintained the advantage for more than half the distance, but on approaching the Derby street bridge Roche and Harris commenced to move up on the lenders, and on the other side of the bridge, tho boats wero almost, level. Webb remained in front, however, though if was soon apparent (hat the other pair were gaining with every stroke, and when two lengths from' tin- finishing post,, Rocho shot abend to win bv a canvas.
