HASTINGS SHOP BURNT

(Pe? Press Association.? HASTINGS, this day. A fire broke out in Austin's tobacco and hairdressing- shop, a wooden building in Heretaunga street, early on Sunday morning, but the brigade confined the outbreak to the front of the premises, the saloon being practically undamaged except by heat and smoke. The front of the shop was not damaged to any serious extent, but the slock was badly affected by fire and smoke. The shops on both sides were constructed of wood, and tho brigade made it good save. The insurance on the slock and fittings was £llOO in the Alliance office, but the insurance on the building, which is owned by Ihe New Zealand ClothittQ Factory, is not available. The cause of the fire is unknown.
