MR. MacDONALD'S CLAIMS
(Received February 3, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 2.
Mr. Rumsay MacDonald, in a message to the electors for Bright-side Division, Sheffield, which seat was Tendered vacant through Mr. A. A. W. 11. Ponsonby's elevation to tho peerage, claims that the Government had successfully pursued a policy commanding general approval. It bad upheld legitimate British interests, but bad taken every step to improve relations and strengthen tho foundations of an assured itnd wellorganised peace. At present it was participating, in a vital conference seeking to limit, and reduce naval armaments. In this great task it was essential that tho Government should have the back' ing of the. British people. "We appeal to tin; electors of Brightside to encourage us with an unmistakable vole of confidence," he concluded.
