UNTRUE WAR STORY LONDON, Dec. 23. The Rev. Samuel Lynn Thomas, curate of St. Mary’s, 'Balham, was fined £lO, with £5 S 3 costs for unlawfully wearing the ribbons of the 1915 Star and an Italian decoration. The .prosecution said that Thomas habitually wore the ribbons during his duties -at Ij:he Church in view of supporting his story that he served in France, where he was badly wounded and Also with the general staff in Italy, whereas his war service was singularly peaceful. He was called up to joim a transport division in 1917. He was commissioned in the labor corps, and became an education officer at Salonika. There ,is no record that he ever saw a shot fi,a'd- The only excitement he experienced was when he was court,martialled and reprimanded for drunkenness.
