DEATH OF FAIRPLAY
NASHVILLE, Dee. 18. Fairplay, who sired the champion Man o’ War, has died at Widener Farm. Foaled in 1905, Fairplay led the Belmont stud, hut Mr. Widener bought him four years ago, for £20,000. Fairplay's get, besides Man o’ War, included other % great stars. In 1920 he sired 19 winners of 72 races, and £50,000 in stakes. In 1914 his progeny won 84 races and £OO,OOO. This year he had 10 winners of £12,000. As a three-year-old, Fairplay won seven of his 10 starts, taking £15,000.
