NEW YEAR’S DAY ATTRACTION Final arrangements have now been made for the annual sports meeting to be held by the Ngatapa Sports Club on the Pattitdhi Domain on- New Year’s Day. .'J’he following officials have been’ appointed : .Judge for Highland dancing events, Mr. F. Pl.,Sutherland, of Napier; official piper, Mr. Chris McCartney, of Napier ; horse event judge, Mr. 0. Ormerod, of Waiohika; athletic arid cycling event judges, Messrs. F. Tolerton and A. S. Parker; official for athletic events, Mr. S. Whitehead; referee, Air. J. Jiootli; handicappers,. Mr. A. W, Eliott (cyclists) and Mr. H, Mcknight (athletes); starter, Mr. H. Mcknight; marksmen, Messrs. H. Shields arid S. Whitehead; timekeepers, Messrs. J. Harvey and L. Ggier; .secretaries for horse events, Alessrs. IV. Picken and J. H. Afonteith , secretary for .all other events, Mr. Max ft. Fry; sports treasurer, Mr, j. Campbell; iiujmter and programme steward, Mr, A. White ; dancing .steward, Air. A. Falconer; horse event- stewards, Messrs. M-. P- Hills, E. Simmins,. and T. Cbrstain; gates,. Alessrs. J. Horniman, J. Thodey and A. Brpadhurst; car parking, Mr. M. Angland; children’s events, Alessrs. A, Langritlge. and E. ,W. Harvey; hot water and free milk, Air. G. A. Pap worth; nail driving, Mr. Ed. Papworth; sheep estimating and throwing cpicket ball, Air. J. Hamilton. .An emergence' committee consisting of Messrs. J. Campbell, A. Falconer, A. White, J. Hamilton and M. 11. Fry was set up to deal with all future matters. The programme has been divided into three, sections, dancing, track events,' and horse events, and is to commence at 11 a.m., the three sections to run simultaneously. Complete bus arrangements to .and .from -the grounds have been undertaken by the Patutahi and Red liusi services, and special excursion trains will be run to and from the grounds. As a special feature the committee has consented to the request ,to conduct a special waltzing competition at tho aririiial ball to bo held in the Patutahi HAH oil New Year’s night. The judge will be Mr. Sutherland, of Napier, and a special Cup has been brought into competition, to be held for one year, arid the winnebs to receive miniatures. Arrangements have been made for a power amplifier broadcaster to supply the music.
