SHIPPING ARRIVALS Thursday, December 26. Patera, s.s. (4 a.m.), 544 tons, Nairn, from Wellington. Friday, December 2/". Margaret W, motor shin (8 a.m.), 289 tons, L. D. Clark, from Wellington. DEPARTURES Thursday, December 26. Tiroa, s.s. (midnight), 206 tons, Owen, for Napier. The Waimea leaves Auckland on January 7 with cargo for Gisborne and Napier. The Wingatui, with southern cargo, now at Wellington, is expected to leave that port to-day for Napier. She is clue here about Tuesday next. According to a radio message from tlie master of the. New Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Bar.gitata, the vessel is expected to arrive at Auckland from Southampton at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Passengers for other ports are being forwarded by expresses leaving Auckland on Monday next. The Rangitata is to load at * Tokomaru Bay about January 20. Tlie llualiine is expected to arrive at Tokomaru Bay on January 2 to load frozen meat and general cargo for London. The Awnhou sails from Auckland on January 7 with general cargo for Coast bays and Gishorno. The jPakura should arrive here .tomorrow looming from Wellington, via Napier. The Parera, with sailß from Wellington, arrived here yesterday. She sails* for Wellington to-morrow. The Gunbur is discharging rails at : Waikokopu. The I'ukeko is due at Gisborne today from Auckland, via Coast bays. From here she proceeds to Napier. The motor ship Margaret W arrived here at 8 a.m. to-day from Auckland. The vessel sails this evening on- the return trip north. Th-Q Tiroa sailed hence last night with wool for Napier. She is due buck here to-morrow morning. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.'s liner Maturoa,, after commencing loadlug at Auckland, will leave there on Tuesday to load also at PictoiJ, Gisbome, Napier, and Wellington. The vessel will sail from Wellington on January 15 for Southampton and London, vm Panama Canal. Captain A. F. Watchlin's new motor vessel Port Waikato is reported to have reached Gibraltar last Saturday, en route from Leith to New Zealand. She is a cargo' vessel to carry about 850 tons, and was specially built at ; Leith for Captain Watchlin. It is understood that she will probably bo used in the New Zealand coastal trade. The Geo. H. Scales Co.'s chartered steamer Bencruachan arrived at Napier on Tuesday from Tolaga Bay to continue loading. She will leave Napier to-morrow, for Wellington, where she will bunker, and is to clear there on Tuesday for Timaru and Port Chalmers to fill up for Dunkirk, London, and Hull. At Tolaga Bay the steamer loaded approximately 3000 bales of wool for London.

THE WEATHER (Last Night's Forecast) An anti-cyclone has passed to the eastward of New Zealand, and a scries of depressions is advancing across, the southern Tasman Sea. Winds north to north-west and moderate to strong, reaching gale force at times in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas smooth to moderate generally at first, bnt rising on the west const and in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Moderate to strong north to north-west winds', and moderate to rather rough softs in the eastern Tasnran. Weather ploudy, but mainly fine in the eastern ; districts; elsewhere unsettled, with irain developing. Temperatures mild to warm. (To-day's North Island Report.) Blue skies were reported at Gisborne and East Cape this morning, but overcast conditions were general elsewhere in the North Island. A" north-westerly gale was blowing at Gape Campbell, Wellington, and Cape Palliser, and light to strong westerly winds elsewhere. The barometer showed little variation, and was still at a comparatively low level. Temperatures at {> o'clock were: Auckland 66 degrees, Tauranga and Gisborne 70, Opotiki 67, East Cape and Wanganui 6"), Kapler 7C, and Wellington !>B.
