FLOODS IN ENGLAND
AREAS UNDER WATER LONDON ESCAPES LIGHTLY (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 50. The upper reaches of the Thames are in many places in a state of flood, and the river is steadily rising.' During the past 48 hours there has been a rise of 16iu near Windsor.
Serious floods have developed in the Midlands, and wide areas are Under water. In south-east England the flood has so altered the countryside, as viewed from the air, that an air liner pilot yesterday from Cologne failed to pick up familiar marks, and had to steer a compass course to Croydon. In London, which has suffered much less severely than other parts of the country, the rainfall registered was over Sin. during November. The normal November rainfall is 2.22 in..
