NEW FLYING BOAT
HUGE BRITISH MACHINE CARRIES 33 PERSONS (British Official Wireless.) Eec. 2 p.m, RUGBY, Nov. 22. 'Fite Royal Air Force giant allmetal riving boat, Iris HI., was launched to-day at Brough, near Hull. The living boat, which weighs 33 tons, was drawn from its hangar by a traction engine and run down the slips to the Humber. Her float and engine tests here carried out, and after half tin hour’s flying test under the supervision of an Air .Ministry expert, the Iris headed for Felixstowe, where she is likely to remain for some time. She lifts a crew of Jive, and can carry 2S persons. Site is equipped .with throe 700 horsepower Condor engines, and is officially described as a reconnaisance boat and it incorporates a gunner’s cockpit behind tt triple rudder, enabling a (dear Held of fire to the rear.
