A SEVERE ’QUAKE
WESTPORT ALARMED I-lODSES WELL SHAKEN {Per Press Association.) WESTPORT, this day. The worst earthquake during the past three months shook Westport at about .'5.45 o’clock this morning. Its coining was heralded by loud rumblings, and tlic houses wore well shaken, crockery rattling, and in some cases falling on the floor. The shake lasted the best part of a minute, and finished with a nasty twisting movement.
Last evening at about 1.1 o'clock a very loud booming was hoard, but no shake accompanied (lie noise. Many people are feeling nervous as (lie result of this morning’s shake. FELT IN WELLINGTON (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An earthquake of comparatively short duration was felt throughout the city and suburbs about 5.45 a.m. It was of minor intensity only.
