YOUNG WOMAN’S ESCAPE
RESCUE FROM DROWNING (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. A young woman, Miss Cakler, a nurse,' had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming at St. Clair beach. When 100 yards out she was seen to throw her arms up, signalling for help. Richard Opxon swam out and got hold of the ydting woman, but could make no headway against the undertow. Ivan Turnbull swam to their assistance with a lifeline. Against the strong, current. the three got ashore exhausted. Miss Calder, on recovering, said she would have drowned hut for the youths’ promptness and courage.
