BRITISH TRADE RETURNS
FIGURES FOR OCTOBER LARGE INCREASE IN IMPORTS (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 10 a.in. RUGBY, Nov. 12. Thu Board of Trade returns show that for October last, compared with the corresponding month last year, imports increased by £17,597,000, exports by £276,000, and re-exports by £240,000. The principal increases m imports were: Grain and Hour, £5,370,000; rubber, £1,347,000; raw cotton, £803,000. In the exports, coal increased by £l,144,000. Tlie principal decrease in imports was meat £958,000, and in exports cotton yarns and manufaciures £^,427,000. £xports for October ammuited in value to £04,£00,000. For the iirst 10 months of the year they amounted tu £60,800,COO, showing an increase of £8,760,000 compared with the same period of last year.
Imports for October amounted to £110,000,000. For tlie firs It.) months of the year they were valued at. £ 1,007,000,000, an increase of £IB,OO I.IHXJ compared with the same period last year.
