HARBOR BRIDGE
PAINTERS AT VARIANCE SYDNEY, October 29. Just as tho harbor bridge was beginning to creep over the harbor and the iron workers were learning a few new toe-holds before applying for an extra shilling an inch another quarrel lias started between the painters of tbe structure. There are two kinds of painters—the ordinary house painter and the bridge or ship’s painter. It appears that there is a tine distinction between these two types of _ paint splodgers, tbe first-named considering himself something of an artist. These painters say that whilst it is possible for others to put on the priming coat, when it conies to these secondly and thirdly they are the only .men who can do it. A judge was called in some time ago to decide whore tho bridge painter should begin and. end, and the house painter should put oil tho finishing coats in a craftsmanlike manner. But the painters claim that the scrapers arid daubers have been sneaking in a hit of the second and third coats, and they threaten to bring the whole work on the bridge to ;v standstill unless the other fellow puts down his sash brush and takes up his dauber.
