MEAT TRADE
WITH THE EAST GLOOMY PROSPECTS SYDNEY,' November 1. Among the passengers who arrived yesterday by the St. Albans from Hongkong was Mr. F. E. Oldmeadow, of the Metropolitan Meat Markets, Melbourne, who, for the past five months, has been touring the East on business and pleasure.
Mr. Oldmeadow said that the prospects of increasing the export of frozen beef from Australia to Eastern countries was anything but bright. As far as Java was concerned, there was little possibility of trade. And the same tiling applied to the Philippines, where most of tho meat used by the community came from Indo-Ohina. It. looked as if the export trade of live stock, which for some time had been carried on between Dhinvin and Manila, had come to an end.
