T&E N.Z. ASSOCIATION HAGEN AND KIRKWOOD'S VISIT The visit to New Zealand of Hagen and Kiil-wnud was discussed at the last riieeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association. Kirkwood's cable, message to Mr. A. D. S. Duncan was brought before the meeting, also Mr. Duncan's reply, which stated that an exhibition match could be played at Miramar on Wednesday. February 26, 1930. Kirkwood is agreeable to these arrangements. It was resolved to forward a letter ot the Wanganui club, expressing the council's appreciation and thanks for the excellent manner in which the championship tournament had been conducted. Recommendations and suggestions put forward at the annual general meeting were discussed, particularly the question of separating the amateur and open championships, and the most suitable time for holding the meeting. Although the matter was left" over for further, discussion later, it was generally considered that, in view oil a more favorable course and weather conditions, late in October may he found the best date for the tourament. The application made bv the Manawatu Golf Club for the 1930 championship meeting is to be considered in due course, when any other possible applications may have been received. A letter was received from the Christchurch Golf Club stating definitely that it was willing to have the Kirk-Wind-eyer Cup nlaved at Shirley just before piaster, and also to have a supplementary tournament verv much on the same lines as the one held at Miramar when the Australian colters last visited New Zealand in 1928. It was resolved to immediatelv advise the Australian Golf Union, and the golf associations in the various States so that arrangements may he made bv them in good time.
