THE NORTHERN OUTLET
(To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir,—Can you, or perhaps some of your readers," give any reason why the Mahaki, Otoko and Gold Creek crossings have not yet had something done wheroby the large number of travelling public now using tho road could negotiate these, Without risking serious damage to their cars and possibly their lives in fording these creeks After the last flood of the 23rd and 24th ult,, tho banks were scoured away, and for a day or two it was impossible for cars to cross. It was only by the kindly assistance of one of the service drivers that I escaped what might have been a serious accident in crossing one of the fords. Silrely something can be done, epecially now that there an all-metal road right through to Opotiki. One sotices with Batisfaetion that the creek where young McKenzie was drowned has now been bridged. It surely does nob need the sacrifice of other lives beforo the authorities are moved to secure the bridging of these Seeing that this is. now Cisbornc's only outlet to the north, and that the balance, of the rond is sd good, in fairness to tho service companies who are catering so well for Gieborne's traffic, something should be done—l am. etc., , R, BOP.B.
