£1,000,000 PALACE
NEW HOME FOR LEAGUE GENEVA, Sept. 9. Yesterday's ceremony of, the laying of the -foundation stone of the new palace of the League of Nations was .attended by Prune Ministers, Foreign Ministers, and prominent statesmen representing 55 nations. After a speech, by Sir Eric Drummond, Secretary-General of the League, emphasising the historic importance of the event, coins of nearly all nations were placed, in a casket fixed in the foundation stone, with documents in 25 languages, describing the event and copies of the League Covenant. The stone Mas lowered into position by Spnor Guerrero, president of the Assembly, amid a storm of cheering. The palace will take four years, to build, and is to cost nearly £1,000,000.
