CRICKET
M.C.C, TEAM AT PERTH OPENING MATCH TO-DAY (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) PERTH, October 29. The English cricket team landed in tho pink of condition. Gilligan said that all were looking forward eagerly to the visit to New Zealand, the fame of which had been constantly prftichcd by Rowley, as a result of his previous visit. The team was a well-balanced one, and included four chosen to represent lingland in the tests against South Africa—Duleepsinhji, Woolley, Bowley, and Barratt. With one or two exceptions, it was a young side, and, though it included the smallest English county cricketer, it averaged sft. llin. in height. The bowlers were principally fast and medium to fast. It would be interesting to see how they would fare on the Australian and New Zealand wickets. The visitors had an enthusiastic reception. and they were practising this afternoon for tho opening match against Westralia to-morrow. Gilligan is specially proud of the Colombo match. There they had the largest attendance 'for any English game. Woolley is the only player who has previously been in Australia,
