RESIDENCE DESTROYED
BLAZE IN SOUTHLAND (Par Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, last night, An outbreak of fire on Monday eveniim in a six-roomed house at Underwood, owned by N.Z. Milk Products Ltd., and occupied by Mr. William Brighton, resulted in the complete destruction of the residence. The owner was absent at the time, and the. origin of tho fire is a mystery. There was no insurance on the contents and the owner estimates his loss at several hundred pounds. Valuable work by a bucket 'brigade prevented the tire from spreading to adjoining premises, although the wall of the house next door, occupied by Mr. J. lb Batten, was badlv burnt.
